In the commercial Honda said backup cameras are now standard on all models. Smart move because little does the public know that backup cameras are now a federally mandated safety standard.

Backup cameras have been Federally mandated starting with MY2014, it's just that manufacturers have been giving the Fed the finger on that one.

Little does the public know Honda's camera system is super buggy, as proved in my dad's 2015 Fit.

i always say something when ever their commercials come on. "It's lies" I yell. My wife questions my sanity with the yelling at Honda.

Well either way good marketing by Honda. Backup cameras are great.

Well they had to pay to put the camera in there. Federal mandate doesn't make it free. So they can and should use that as a marketing angle. We saw this with airbags and even ESC a few years ago, when that became a requirement.

it's fine on my mom's 2010 pilot and my grandparent's 2007 CRV.

Well in the Fit, sometimes the wrong camera would turn on and sometimes no camera at all. It's really annoying.

I'm not saying Honda is the boogyman for doing it but I just thought it was a good idea to persuade the uninitiated.

I was totally unaware of that (the camera thing) dam...

Interestingly they're only required on small vehicles. They're not required where they're actually needed, on large vehicles with no visibility to the rear. Go figure.

There is more than one camera in the Fit?

One backup camera and two more, one on each mirror, that turn on when you signal.
